Stafford man arrested after stealing car to go on ‘crack’ run

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA – Deputies say a 36-year-old Stafford man is behind bars after stealing a woman’s vehicle from a hotel parking lot and attempting to use it for a drug run.

The incident began on September 28, when deputies were called to the Sleep Inn on Warrenton Road for a report of unauthorized use of a vehicle. The victim told deputies she had been sharing a room with Trent Robinson when he asked her to drive him to buy crack cocaine. She refused and fell asleep, only to wake up and discover her vehicle was gone.

Authorities determined Robinson, who has a suspended license and an outstanding felony capias warrant from Spotsylvania, had taken the car. Deputies quickly entered the vehicle into the stolen database.

Just after 7:30 p.m., the stolen vehicle was spotted traveling on Warrenton Road near America’s Best Value Inn—ironically right next door to where the crime began. Robinson was stopped by First Sergeants B.U. Demirci and M.R. Flick and taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving while suspended, in addition to being served with the outstanding warrant. Robinson is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
