Man shot dead inside Bronx building NYPD reports

BRONX, N.Y. – A 25-year-old man was found fatally shot inside a building on Southern Boulevard Sunday evening, according to police.

Officers responding to a 911 call discovered the victim with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Shooting inside residential building

The shooting occurred around 5:45 p.m. inside 2111 Southern Boulevard, within the 48th Precinct, police said. Responding officers located the victim, identified as Chanler Reams, unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities said EMS pronounced Reams dead at the scene. Detectives remained outside the building for several hours Sunday night, collecting evidence and canvassing the area for surveillance footage.

Investigation ongoing

The motive for the shooting has not been determined. Police are working to establish whether Reams was targeted or if the incident stemmed from a dispute inside the building.

Residents reported hearing a single gunshot before emergency vehicles flooded the block. Several streets surrounding Southern Boulevard were temporarily closed as police secured the scene.
