MANHATTAN, N.Y. – Police are searching for a man who allegedly struck a 65-year-old woman with a laptop during a violent encounter aboard a northbound W train earlier this month.

The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on December 9 as the train approached the Rector Street Station. According to investigators, the victim was conversing with the unidentified man when he suddenly removed a laptop from his backpack and hit her multiple times in the head.

The woman exited the train at Rector Street, where EMS transported her to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital. She was listed in stable condition following the assault.

Police said the suspect remained on the train and was last seen getting off at the Canal Street Station before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. He is described as a heavyset male with a medium complexion, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old.
