MANHATTAN, N.Y. – A 23-year-old man was stabbed during a confrontation on a northbound subway platform on the Upper West Side Friday evening, police said.
The attack occurred around 7:20 p.m. on December 19 in the vicinity of Broadway and West 96th Street. According to investigators, the victim became involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified man who then punched him in the face before stabbing him in the back.
The assailant fled the station in an unknown direction. EMS transported the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he was listed in stable condition.
Police described the suspect as a male with a light complexion, approximately 20 to 30 years old, with a slender build. He was last seen wearing all black clothing.
Detectives from the NYPD Transit Bureau are investigating the incident.
