Man stabbed three times after cigarette request turns violent in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, PA – A man was hospitalized late Friday night after being stabbed multiple times while sitting in his car on North River Street.

The incident occurred around 11:25 p.m. when the 40-year-old victim was stopped at a stop sign and approached by a man asking for a cigarette.

According to police, as the victim rolled down his window, a second suspect came up to the vehicle and stabbed him three times in the chest.

The victim managed to drive himself to a local hospital, where officers later interviewed him in the emergency room. He is being treated for his injuries, which police described as serious but not life-threatening.

The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department continues to investigate the aggravated assault, and no arrests have been announced.

A simple request on a quiet street turned into a sudden act of violence.
