Man Wanted for Decapitating Woman in Her Home At Large in California

Santa Rosa Police Department issued a homicide warrant for Aroyo-Lopez, identifying him as the suspect in a brutal killing. The victim, a relative of Aroyo-Lopez, was found at her home on the 2500 block of Pomo Trail on Thursday afternoon.

SANTA ROSA, CA – A manhunt is underway for Luis Gustavo Aroyo-Lopez, 24, after police discovered a decapitated female at a residence in Santa Rosa, California.

Santa Rosa Police Department issued a homicide warrant for Aroyo-Lopez, identifying him as the suspect in a brutal killing. The victim, a relative of Aroyo-Lopez, was found at her home on the 2500 block of Pomo Trail on Thursday afternoon.

Responders arrived at approximately 3:40 p.m. to a report of a possible homicide and discovered the woman deceased. The investigation indicated that the woman’s head was missing from the scene.

Detectives believe Aroyo-Lopez fled with the victim’s head post-homicide. Previously incarcerated, Aroyo-Lopez had been released from prison and was last seen leaving the area on foot.

Described as Hispanic, 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing 150 pounds, Aroyo-Lopez has black hair, brown eyes, and distinctive tattoos. Police urge the public to be on the lookout for Aroyo-Lopez, who may be wearing a black long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt or jacket, black pants, and white shoes.

Officials caution that Aroyo-Lopez should be considered dangerous and ask anyone with information to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department.
