Manhunt underway after domestic stabbing spree injures five in Abingdon

ABINGDON, MD — Harford County authorities are searching for a man accused of stabbing multiple family members, including two young children, during a domestic incident early Sunday morning.

Deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:15 a.m. on April 27, 2025, to a home in the 400 block of Deerhill Circle. Upon arrival, they found two victims outside and three inside the residence. Five individuals — Zeenat Jahan, 19; Rehana Rashid, 66; Sana Zahid, 36; an 8-month-old child; and a 2-year-old child — were injured and transported to hospitals, with two victims flown by helicopter to a trauma center. All are reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Raja Zahid Maqsood, allegedly attacked the victims inside the home before fleeing. Authorities confirmed that the motive appears domestic in nature, and the attack is not believed to be random.

Following the incident, Maqsood was seen changing clothes at nearby Walmart and Target stores before leaving the area. Although the weapon or weapons used in the attack were recovered at the scene, Maqsood is still considered armed and dangerous.

Suspect sought across multiple states and countries

Maqsood, who has ties to Abingdon as well as other states and countries, is now the subject of an active manhunt involving the HCSO Warrant Apprehension Unit and allied law enforcement agencies. A drone and K9 search operation was launched shortly after the incident, but Maqsood remains at large.

He faces charges of attempted first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact investigators or submit tips anonymously.

Investigation continues as community remains on alert

Detectives from the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division, along with forensic units, are leading the investigation. Officials have stressed that the case is still active and no additional details are available for release at this time.

Authorities are warning the public to exercise caution and report any sightings immediately.
