Marjorie taylor greene introduces bill targeting atmospheric chemtrails

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) announced Monday that she is introducing legislation to make weather modification and geoengineering a federal felony, citing concerns about chemical dispersion into the atmosphere.

“I am introducing a bill that prohibits the injection, release, or dispersion of chemicals or substances into the atmosphere for the express purpose of altering weather, temperature, climate, or sunlight intensity,” Greene wrote in a post on X.

The bill, according to Greene, was drafted in coordination with legislative counsel and is modeled after Florida’s Senate Bill 56, which similarly seeks to restrict state-authorized weather modification activities.

“We must end the dangerous and deadly practice of weather modification and geoengineering,” Greene added in her statement.

Greene’s proposal follows growing online discourse around “chemtrails” — a term commonly used in conspiracy theories to suggest that governments or other entities are secretly releasing chemicals into the sky for undisclosed purposes. The scientific community maintains that contrails from aircraft are composed primarily of water vapor and that geoengineering proposals remain largely theoretical and unimplemented on a broad scale.

The proposed federal legislation has not yet been formally introduced on the House floor. Greene did not state whether the bill has any co-sponsors or committee support at this time.

A similar bill introduced in Florida earlier this year did not advance past committee.
