Lanham and Temple Hills players hit $100K jackpots as Maryland Lottery pays out $29M in one week

LANHAM, MD – Two lucky Marylanders walked away with $100,000 prizes this week, capping off a winning streak that saw nearly $29.3 million in total lottery payouts across the state between Sept. 22 and Saturday. One winner struck gold on a WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY™ FAST PLAY ticket in Lanham, while another claimed a six-figure prize in Temple Hills on a $100,000 Crossword scratch-off.

The Lanham ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven on Good Luck Road on Saturday, while the Temple Hills win came earlier in the week from Modern Liquors on Iverson Street. Both tickets were part of the top-tier prize pool among 21 Maryland Lottery wins worth $10,000 or more during the seven-day period.

Scratch-offs made up a significant share of the week’s big wins. In addition to the Temple Hills prize, five $10,000 scratch-off tickets were redeemed from across the state, including wins in Pikesville, Fruitland, Hagerstown, Mount Rainier, and Ellicott City.

Several other games also delivered sizable payouts. A Keno ticket worth $20,038 was sold at Loony’s Pub in Bel Air on Saturday. Meanwhile, the popular Pick 5 game produced five prizes ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 — all unclaimed as of Monday — with winning tickets sold in Deale, Clinton, Windsor Mill, Laurel, and Baltimore.

The Racetrax game also drew attention with 10 winning tickets topping the $10,000 mark. A ticket sold at Meyer’s Liquors in Suitland led that group, paying out a prize of $52,246. Other Racetrax tickets redeemed or still pending ranged from $10,284 to more than $30,000.

Maryland Lottery officials encourage players to sign the backs of their winning tickets and keep them safe until they can claim their prizes. Tickets worth over $25,000 must be claimed at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore by appointment. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at any Maryland casino, and tickets worth up to $5,000 are eligible for redemption at more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program locations.

Draw game tickets expire 182 days after the drawing date, while FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after purchase. Scratch-off expiration dates are posted on the Lottery’s website.

Since launching in 1973, the Maryland Lottery has awarded over $35.5 billion in prizes and contributed more than $20.7 billion to state programs, including education and public health.
