Four Maryland artists selected for scratch-off ticket design contest

Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Lottery has announced the four winners of its first-ever art competition, whose designs will be featured on the upcoming Maryland Treasures scratch-off ticket set to launch in March 2026.

The contest, which opened July 1, invited Maryland residents to submit original artwork highlighting the state’s landmarks, history, culture, and traditions. Nearly 2,200 pieces of art were submitted by more than 700 entrants. A panel initially planned to select three winners but added a fourth due to the strength of the submissions.

Each artist will receive a $4,000 award, and their artwork will be revealed in March ahead of the game’s release.

The four winners are:

  • Courtney Bindl of Timonium
  • Julia Chiplis of Frederick
  • Gia Coakley of Mount Airy
  • Kevin Richardson of Columbia

The Maryland Treasures ticket will feature four versions, each displaying one of the winning designs.
