Baltimore, MD – Maryland State Police responded to 267 crashes and more than 780 calls for service statewide since 4 p.m. Sunday as snow emergency plans remain in effect across most of Maryland.
Troopers reported the high volume of incidents Monday morning, urging motorists to avoid travel unless necessary, particularly on the Eastern Shore where conditions remain hazardous.
The surge in crashes comes as snow-covered roads and reduced visibility continue to impact travel across the state. Officials said snow emergency plans remain active until further notice.
Drivers urged to avoid unnecessary travel
The Maryland State Police advised motorists who must travel to fully clear snow and ice from their vehicles, including headlights, before driving. Drivers are also urged to reduce speed, allow extra travel time and avoid crowding snow plows.
