Frederick retiree strikes $100000 win on $50 scratch off ticket

Frederick, MD – A retired woman from Frederick County is $100,000 richer after hitting it big on a $5,000,000 Fortune scratch-off ticket she purchased at her neighborhood Royal Farms store.

The longtime Maryland Lottery player said she had tried her luck with a few losing tickets before deciding to take one more chance on the $50 game. That last-minute decision turned into her biggest win yet after the ticket scanner flashed the message directing her to claim her prize.

She immediately ran to her car to tell her husband, shaking with excitement as the reality of her win set in. Before this prize, her largest win was just $500 on a Ravens-themed ticket.

The retiree traveled to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Tuesday to collect her winnings. She plans to use part of the money to mark her 35th wedding anniversary with a vacation, while the remainder will go toward savings and investments to support her retirement.

Still in disbelief, she admitted the win has not changed her enthusiasm for playing. On her way to claim the prize, she bought more tickets to enjoy at home with her husband.
