LAKEHURST, NJ – Lake Horicon is a small lake in the center of the tiny borough of Lakehurst that has a lakefront beach, some walking trails, and fishing amenities, but after just one day being reopened, Mayor Harry Robbins said he was forced to close the park. That came after police and OEM staff within the borough alerted the mayor to large crowds. Robbins did not want to issue tickets or fines, so instead, he just ordered the park closed. He said the park will reopen soon, he said, but this time a sign at the entrance will warn people entering that police will issue tickets for social distancing violations.
