Farmington, MN – A Minnesota man has been charged with second-degree intentional murder following the shooting death of the mother of his children. Demarco Jones, 29, remains hospitalized after attempting to take his own life on December 24.

Authorities responded to a 911 call made by the victim’s mother at 2:23 p.m. on December 24. The call indicated that her daughter, 26-year-old Tatianna Ehnes-Giles, had been shot in the head by Jones, who was also reported to be injured.

Upon arrival, deputies found Jones on the bedroom floor, where he admitted to shooting both himself and Ehnes-Giles. The weapon and spent shell casings were located at the scene. Ehnes-Giles was pronounced dead at the location.

Eyewitness accounts from the victim’s mother indicated that one of the couple’s children alerted her to the incident, stating, “Daddy fell.” Eyewitnesses reported that Jones claimed to have been shot while accusing Ehnes-Giles of infidelity.

Jones has been charged with second-degree intentional murder and will be held at Dakota County Jail upon medical clearance. A bond has been set at $2 million, with a court appearance scheduled for January 5.
