RICHMOND, VA – The Richmond Police Department (RPD) is investigating the death of Salvador Vitervo Ortiz, 31, who was found in a wooded area near Cofer Road on Sunday.
Ortiz was reported missing since January 19 after last being seen in the 3100 block of Richmond Highway.
Following extensive searches by the RPD, community groups, and family members, Ortiz’s body was discovered by his family.
The Richmond Ambulance Authority pronounced him dead at the scene. While detectives are conducting an investigation, no signs of foul play have been observed.
RPD asks anyone with further information to contact their Major Crimes unit or use the anonymous reporting methods available through Crime Stoppers. The department continues to engage the community for assistance in their ongoing investigations.
