Trenton, NJ – More than a foot of heavy, wet snow has fallen across Trenton, downing trees and making travel extremely difficult as city crews work through the storm’s peak impact.
The Trenton Police Department said Public Works and Recreation crews have been out overnight clearing primary roadways. Officials reported steady accumulation and described the snow as wet, heavy and packed, creating hazardous driving conditions citywide.
Primary roads were cleared overnight, and crews are now focusing on secondary streets. Some trees have been reported down as the weight of the snow strains branches and power lines.
Residents urged to remain home
City officials are asking residents to stay home if possible to allow plow operators and emergency responders to work safely. Limiting traffic on roadways is expected to speed snow removal efforts and reduce the risk of crashes.
Authorities also encouraged residents to check on family members and neighbors, particularly seniors and those who may need assistance during the storm.
