More than 38,000 without power across Ocean County

Toms River, NJ – Widespread power outages continued across Ocean County Monday as blizzard conditions battered the region, leaving more than 38,000 customers without electricity, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

JCP&L outage data shows significant impacts in multiple municipalities, with Brick Township reporting 10,118 customers without power, or 28% of its 36,212 customers. Toms River Township reported 7,881 outages, representing 16% of its 49,425 customers.

Lacey Township saw 4,597 customers, or 33%, without service, while Point Pleasant Borough reported 3,036 outages, accounting for 31% of customers. Berkeley Township reported 2,885 outages, or 11% of its total.

Coastal communities among hardest hit

Bay Head Borough reported 525 outages, affecting 42% of its 1,249 customers, one of the highest percentages in the county. Ocean Township reported 1,068 outages, or 20%, and Barnegat Township had 1,207 customers, or 14%, without power.

Jackson Township reported 1,445 outages, while Manchester Township had 1,767 customers affected. Lakewood Township reported 1,859 outages.

Smaller communities also saw disruptions, including Seaside Park with 415 outages (15%) and Beachwood with 370 outages (9%). Seaside Heights reported 1 outage out of 1 customer listed, reflecting 100% of accounts in that reporting category.

Officials have urged residents to report outages directly to JCP&L and avoid downed wires. Restoration timelines remain uncertain as crews continue working during the ongoing blizzard impacting Ocean County.
