Morning traffic report Crashes delays impact New Jersey commuters

NEW JERSEY — Morning commuters faced significant delays Tuesday due to multiple crashes, lane closures, and heavy traffic on major roadways across the state.

As of 8:45 a.m., a crash on the George Washington Bridge lower level eastbound on the New York side in Manhattan blocked one left lane, adding to congestion on the busy crossing.

Earlier, at 8:18 a.m., a disabled tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike/I-95 express lanes northbound, just south of Exit 72 in Englewood, blocked one right lane. Meanwhile, an overturned truck on the Turnpike’s Eastern Spur at Interchange 16E in Secaucus caused significant disruptions, with four right lanes blocked since 7:45 a.m.

Drivers in Jersey City also faced issues due to emergency construction and a water main break on NJ 139 Lower eastbound near Jersey Avenue, where one right lane remained closed as of 7:19 a.m.

Heavy traffic was reported on NJ 208 southbound from Grandview Avenue in Wyckoff to north of Fair Lawn Avenue in Fair Lawn, with travel times between five and ten minutes.

Additional delays due to volume were impacting NJ 29 northbound from north of I-295 in Hamilton Township to north of South Warren Street in Trenton, as well as US 1 northbound at Harrison Street in West Windsor Township.
