Motorcyclist killed in North Bethesda collision identified

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — The Montgomery County Department of Police is investigating a fatal collision in North Bethesda that claimed the life of a 22-year-old motorcyclist on Saturday evening.

The crash occurred around 7:21 p.m. on October 12, when a black Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling southbound on Rockville Pike and made a left turn onto Tuckerman Lane. The minivan collided with a Yamaha MT07 motorcycle, driven by Baeley Aubrey Thackston of Rockville, who was heading northbound on Rockville Pike.

First responders from Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but Thackston was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the minivan remained on-site and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is leading the investigation and is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (240) 773-6620.
