MINEOLA, NY – Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced on Thursday that Elizabeth Reilly, 50, of New Hyde Park, pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Second Degree for stealing approximately $750,000 from a 91-year-old woman.
Reilly, who the victim’s attorney employed, used the victim’s financial information to make unauthorized purchases and write checks to herself or cash, totaling more than $675,000. She also used the victim’s credit cards to make personal purchases, including beauty products, a gym membership, and airline tickets.
Reilly is due back in court on July 7, 2023, and is expected to be sentenced to three to six years in prison.
District Attorney Donnelly emphasized the importance of protecting seniors from financial fraud schemes, stating that the victim trusted her finances to her attorney and could not have predicted that Reilly would exploit her access to the victim’s financial information for personal gain.
