PISCATAWAY, N.J. – State and county investigators are probing a homicide that occurred earlier Monday in Piscataway, according to local police, who emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing danger to the community.
A man armed with a machete was shot and killed by police Monday after officers discovered three people dead inside a Piscataway residence, authorities confirmed.
According to preliminary information, responding officers entered the home and found three deceased individuals, two of whom are believed to be the suspect’s grandparents. While at the scene, the suspect allegedly charged at officers with a machete.
Police said officers first attempted to subdue the man using tasers, but when those efforts failed, they opened fire, fatally striking him.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office are investigating the incident, which remains active and ongoing. No officers were injured.

In a statement, the Piscataway Township Police Department thanked residents for their cooperation and said additional information would be made public “when appropriate and the investigation allows.”
Officials urged residents to remain patient as the investigation continues but reiterated that there is “no indication of an ongoing threat to the community.”
