New Jersey Democrat Wants to Seize President Trump’s Bedminster Golf Course Over Federal Shutdown

by Shore News Network

Trenton, NJ – Democrats in New Jersey are escalating their clash with the Trump administration, floating the idea of seizing President Donald Trump’s golf club in Bedminster as payback for what they describe as retaliation against the state’s federal funding cuts and government shutdown.

Kate Brennan, a Democrat running for the New Jersey State Assembly says the state should take Trump’s golf course by force.

The proposal comes as tensions mount over federal funding cuts tied to vital infrastructure projects, including the Gateway Tunnel project.

The push mirrors the Democrat party’s separate and highly charged attack against private land ownership in Cranbury Township, where local leaders are moving to take the historic Henry family farm through eminent domain to meet state-mandated affordable housing quotas.

That case has drawn national attention, with critics arguing the government is overreaching by targeting private property with deep historical roots.

At the center of the latest controversy is Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, a sprawling property in Somerset County where the former president has frequently spent time.

Brennan says that if Washington cuts money approved for New Jersey commuters, the state should consider extraordinary measures — including using eminent domain to take over Trump’s land and repurpose it for affordable housing.

“This is not how the government is supposed to work. We pay federal taxes but get a President who sees us as the enemy and takes away our own money as retaliation. This has to stop,” Brennan said in a statement, accusing Trump of prioritizing politics over residents’ livelihoods.

One thing is clear in New Jersey. If Democrats want your private land, they’re going to take your private land.
