Morris County player hits $163K jackpot on $5 Merry Money lottery ticket
Parsippany, NJ – A Morris County lottery player got a hefty surprise this week after landing a $163,021 prize from the New Jersey Lottery’s Fast Play Progressive Merry Money game with a $5 ticket bought at a local gas station.
The winning ticket was sold at Parsippany Shell, located at 25 Route 46 East in Parsippany, and matched a 50% share of the Fast Play Progressive jackpot, which stood at $326,042 on Wednesday. The player secured half the pot, which is the maximum prize for a $5 Fast Play ticket under the lottery’s tiered payout structure.
The Fast Play Progressive jackpot resets with each win and continues to climb with every ticket sold. As of Thursday, the current jackpot has already risen to an estimated $175,315 and continues to grow.
Fast Play tickets offer instant results and are available in multiple denominations at any authorized New Jersey Lottery retailer. Depending on the value of the ticket, players are eligible for a different percentage of the current jackpot: $30, $20, and $10 tickets can claim 100%, while lower tiers win reduced shares. The $5 ticket, as in this case, awards 50% of the jackpot amount.
This win adds to a long list of Fast Play winners across the state and contributes to the overall mission of the New Jersey Lottery. Since its inception in 1970, the Lottery has generated over $34 billion in revenue to support public services and programs across the Garden State. Under a long-term agreement signed in 2017, Lottery profits are directed to help fund New Jersey’s public employee pension system.
The identity of the winner has not yet been disclosed. All New Jersey Lottery winners have up to one year to claim their prize.
