NEWARK, N.J. – The Newark Department of Public Safety has announced temporary street closures for Wednesday, July 22, to accommodate the City’s Drive-Up and Go Food Distribution event.
Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said the closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. while the event is held at the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and 15th Avenue. Food distribution is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Streets affected by closures
The following roadways will be closed during the event:
- 15th Avenue between Bergen Street and South 6th Street
- Fairmount Avenue between 14th Avenue and 15th Avenue
- Littleton Avenue between 14th Avenue and 16th Avenue
- Camden Street between 14th Avenue and 16th Avenue
Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays in the area and use alternate routes while the closures are in place.

Director Miranda thanked residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation during the event.
Officials also encouraged anyone with information about criminal activity to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips may also be submitted through the department’s website.
