Brazen late-night Newark robbery caught on camera as three suspects flee in different directions
NEWARK, NJ – A man and woman heading to their car in Newark late Thursday night were ambushed by three armed men in a coordinated street robbery that ended with the suspects vanishing in separate directions under the cover of night.
The incident unfolded at approximately 11:20 p.m. near the intersection of Clifton Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue. As the pair approached the man’s parked vehicle, three African American men confronted them. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the male victim, while another pressed a knife to his chest, demanding his possessions.
The suspects quickly made off with the man’s car keys and $250 in cash. In a deliberate attempt to evade capture, each suspect ran in a different direction—one fleeing west on Bloomfield Avenue, another east, and the third heading south on Clifton Avenue.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. has released images of the three suspects and is urging members of the public to assist in identifying them. The suspects’ photos were taken from surveillance footage in the area, though police have not released the footage itself.
The Newark Police Division is asking anyone with information to contact their 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Tips can remain anonymous, and callers may be eligible for a cash reward.
