LINDEN, NJ – A 28-year-old Newark man has died following a Saturday afternoon shooting in Linden, prompting a homicide investigation by Union County prosecutors and local police.

At about 3:26 p.m. on September 27, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3000 block of Irene Street. When they arrived, they found the victim, identified as Darrell Sanders, suffering from a single gunshot wound. Sanders was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released details about a possible suspect or motive. The investigation is being led by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force with support from the Linden Police Department.
