Woman wanted in upstate New York for stolen property and forged checks, police say
NORWICH, NY — A 25-year-old woman is being sought by the New York State Police after allegedly failing to appear in court on charges linked to forged checks and stolen property uncovered during an investigation earlier this year.
Alora S. Stott is wanted by Troop C of the New York State Police after she was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree — both felonies — and a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of stolen property.
Police say Stott was found in January with a stolen checkbook and multiple forged and stolen checks while in Sidney, New York. The case later expanded when troopers also discovered Stott and three other individuals with a stolen Dodge Ram truck in Norwich.
According to authorities, Stott has missed two court appearances — one in Sidney Village Court and another in Chenango County Court — prompting the issuance of warrants.
The case numbers tied to the charges are NY2500079667 and NY2500039294. Investigators continue to search for Stott and have urged the public not to approach her but instead report any information directly to the New York State Police.
