SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney recently announced that Steven Marksberry, a 50-year-old NYPD officer from Lake Grove, has been indicted for possessing child [censored]ography. Marksberry is alleged to have saved images of child sexual abuse on his phone.

The Suffolk County Police Department initiated the investigation after receiving a tip concerning child sexual abuse images in Marksberry’s iCloud account. Execution of a search warrant on Marksberry’s account and phone allegedly revealed many images that depicted the sexual abuse of female children, ranging from four to 12 years old.

On Wednesday, Marksberry was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro. He is facing 50 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and 69 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. If convicted of the most serious charge, Marksberry could face up to 20 years in prison. Justice Ambro set bail at $100,000 cash or a $2.5 million partially secured bond. Marksberry, represented by Scott Zerner Esq., is due back in court on August 7.
