Ocean County Library events for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

TOMS RIVER – Ocean County Library will host a variety of events in January and February honoring the teachings and the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

• Jan. 18: A short documentary containing rare footage about the origin of the Martin Luther King. Jr. holiday will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Plumsted Branch, 119 Evergreen Road, New Egypt. Call (609) 758-7888.

• Feb. 6: Actor Keith Henley will perform an interpretation Dr. King detailing his life and thoughts. at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 6 at the Island Heights Branch, 121 Central Ave.

• Feb. 11: A DVD discussion group will meet to discuss the 2014 film “Selma” at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Stafford Branch, 129 N. Main St.

• Feb. 17: Actor and historian Marvin Jefferson will portray Dr. King in “Martin Luther King Jr.: A Chautauqua” at 4 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Upper Shores branch, 112 Jersey City Ave., Lavallette.
