Ocean County welcomes 35 new Fire 1 recruits to training program

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office officially launched its latest Fire 1 training class last night, welcoming 35 new recruits who will begin the first phase of their journey into the fire service.

The new class gathered for orientation and their first training session, marking the start of a months-long program designed to prepare them for careers as certified firefighters across the county’s municipal departments. Officials said the group arrived motivated and ready to take on the demanding instruction ahead.

“Last night marked the official start for our newest class of 35 Fire 1 recruits. This group arrived ready to work and eager to learn,” the Fire Marshal’s Office said in a statement. “The journey starts now—welcome to the fire service.”

The Ocean County Fire Academy, overseen by the Fire Marshal’s Office, provides foundational and advanced training for firefighters throughout the region, emphasizing safety, teamwork, and public service.
