Off-duty NYPD cadet arrested in Queens on assault and harassment charges

QUEENS, NY – An off-duty NYPD police cadet was arrested early Saturday morning following an incident that led to charges of assault and harassment, authorities said.

Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jessica Sigchi, who was taken into custody at approximately 2:42 a.m. within the confines of the 115th Precinct.

Officials said Sigchi, an NYPD cadet, was off duty at the time of the incident.

Incident under investigation

Details surrounding the altercation have not been publicly released, and the department has not specified whether the incident involved another officer or a civilian. The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau is expected to review the case as part of standard procedure for off-duty arrests.

Sigchi faces charges of assault and harassment and was processed at the precinct following her arrest.
