BROOKLYN, NY – An off-duty New York City school crossing guard was arrested Thursday morning and charged with assault, authorities said.

Police said the arrest took place around 11:18 a.m. within the confines of the 79th Precinct.

The suspect was identified as 66-year-old Lourdes Vega.

She was charged with assault following the incident.
