Salem man wins $1M prize on Ohio Lottery Billion scratch-off

SALEM, OH – A Salem resident is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after landing the top prize on the Ohio Lottery’s $50 Billion scratch-off game.

The winner claimed $50,000 a year for 20 years but chose the one-time cash option of $500,000. After mandatory state and federal taxes, he will receive $360,000.

The winning ticket was purchased at Robert’s Country Store, located at 11999 Stratton Road in Salem. The man, who frequently plays scratch-offs and occasionally buys Mega Millions and Powerball tickets when jackpots climb, also won $10,000 earlier this year on a $10 scratch-off.

Billion is a $50 ticket offering a top prize of $1 million a year for life. As of August 27, two top prizes remain unclaimed.

The Ohio Lottery notes it has contributed more than $33 billion to public education since its inception in 1974.
