One dead, one injured in Lower East Side stabbing incident

NEW YORK, N.Y. — A 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed and a 19-year-old man injured in two connected incidents Saturday night on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call about an assault in progress near 75 Norfolk Street at approximately 8:32 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Amir Smith, 20, with a stab wound to the torso. Smith was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead.

Shortly thereafter, police discovered a second victim, a 19-year-old male, with multiple stab wounds to the back near Delancey Street and Clinton Street. He was also transported to Bellevue, where he remains in stable condition.

The circumstances surrounding the stabbings remain under investigation, and authorities have not yet announced any arrests or identified potential suspects.
