One dead, one injured in separate overnight shootings in Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY – Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred just hours apart overnight, leaving one man dead and another hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a statement from the Buffalo Police Department.

The first incident happened around 2:24 a.m. in the 300 block of Hampshire Street, where officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. Detectives with the department’s Gun Violence Unit are handling that investigation.

Roughly two hours later, at 4:12 a.m., officers responded to another shooting scene on Winter Street. A male victim was found dead at the location. Homicide Unit detectives are leading that investigation.

Police said they are exploring whether the two shootings may be connected. The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of family.
