EATONTOWN, NJ – A 2-year-old cat named Cosmo is back at the Monmouth County SPCA after being returned by his previous owners, and shelter staff say he is now searching for a new home willing to give him another start.
Cosmo was originally adopted as a kitten but recently came back to the shelter when his family reported they no longer had time to care for him. Staff said the transition was difficult at first, but the young cat has been adjusting to shelter life in recent days.
Described as initially shy with new people, Cosmo gradually becomes affectionate once comfortable. Shelter workers say he enjoys interactive play, especially with wand toys and toy mice.
Cosmo has feline asthma and requires ongoing medication to manage the condition. The Monmouth County SPCA said adopters will receive medication to begin his treatment plan and guidance on continued care.
He has lived as an only cat but may be able to share a home with other cats, depending on compatibility.
