Paterson Shooting Investigation Leads to Arrest of Butler Man

PATERSON, NJ – Following a collaborative investigation by the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Yoel Maldonado-Nunez, a 31-year-old Butler resident, was recently arrested in connection with a shooting incident. The event took place on June 25, near Market Street and Madison Street in Paterson.

Responding to reports of a non-fatal gunshot wound, police found a 23-year-old Paterson resident seeking treatment at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center early in the morning. Based on their investigation, it was determined that Maldonado-Nunez was the shooter.

Maldonado-Nunez is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree certain persons not to have weapons. He turned himself in on Tuesday.
