Pedestrian killed, another injured in Neptune Township crash

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision on State Highway 66 that left one pedestrian dead and another injured Tuesday evening, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 7:36 p.m., where a 2021 Ford Transit van, driven by a male operator traveling westbound, struck a female and male pedestrian.

The female pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m. The male pedestrian sustained minor injuries, was treated at the same hospital, and later released.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing. Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago confirmed that investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
