Camera footage key in Erie phone scam investigation
Erie, PA – A suspected phone scam operation is under investigation after a man was captured on video completing a fraudulent transaction, prompting police to ask for the public’s help in identifying him.
The incident occurred March 31 in the 3800 block of Pine Avenue, according to the Erie Police Department.
Investigators say the individual seen in the video is believed to be connected to a phone scam fraud case tied to that location. Details about how the scam was carried out have not been released.
Police noted the suspect was driving a late-model blue Hyundai Elantra at the time of the incident.
Detectives are working to identify the individual and determine whether additional victims or related incidents may be connected.
