TOWSON, MD – A violent domestic incident in Pikesville that led to a lengthy barricade Tuesday has been determined to be domestic-related, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Officers responded around 10:25 a.m. to a home on the 8200 block of Arrowhead Road, where they found a 32-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds and a 48-year-old man with injuries to his upper body.
Investigators say the male victim, a mental health clinician for the State of Maryland, had been called to the residence by the suspect’s wife to assist the suspect, who was reportedly in crisis.
Shortly after the stabbing, the suspect retreated inside the home and barricaded himself, triggering a large police response from the department’s Tactical and Crisis Negotiation Teams.
Tactical team ends hours-long standoff
Police negotiators worked for several hours to resolve the situation peacefully before the Tactical Team entered the residence. Once inside, officers found the suspect suffering from a self-inflicted laceration. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Victims hospitalized but stable
Both victims were transported to local hospitals and are now listed in stable condition, authorities said. Detectives from the Pikesville Precinct continue to investigate the case and have confirmed that the violence stemmed from a domestic dispute.
Police have not yet released the suspect’s name as the investigation remains active.
