Police Make 11 Arrests in Middlesex County Fugitive Sweep

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The New Jersey State Police partnered with local and county law enforcement agencies to arrest 11 wanted fugitives in Middlesex County. The two-day operation what’s the result of a larger Statewide initiative to reduce violent crime in New Jersey.

“The targets for the operation were identified through various investigative means including street-level intelligence, patrol advisories, and information provided by the various units within the New Jersey State Police’s Intelligence Section, New Brunswick Police Department, Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, Franklin Police Department, and an analysis of current crime trends in New Brunswick, provided by the Real Time Crime Center Central Unit,” the New Jersey State Police said in a statement.

According to that statement, from Thursday, August 18, to Friday, August 19, a total of 11 fugitives wanted by state, county, and local law enforcement agencies were apprehended at various locations in Middlesex County. Those arrested were wanted for crimes including weapons/firearms offenses, aggravated sexual assault, robbery, and burglary. During the two-day initiative, all suspects were lodged at Middlesex County Jail.

“Together with our law enforcement partners we have taken another step to make New Jersey safer by removing criminals from our streets, including those wanted for crimes of violence” said Acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin. “I commend the members of law enforcement who worked together to bring these criminal offenders to justice and improve public safety in Middlesex County.”

“Our mobile deployment initiatives remain a top priority in our continued endeavor to keep our communities safe,” said Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. “The success of this initiative can be attributed to collaboration with our law enforcement partners at the state, county, and local levels. We remain committed to utilizing every investigative tool at our disposal to ensure that these offenders are brought to justice.”
