DOVER, DE – Police are searching for a Felton man accused of assaulting a security officer and stealing his vehicle during a robbery Friday morning at the Dover Mart Shopping Center.

The Dover Police Department said the incident occurred around 11:43 a.m. at 282 South DuPont Highway. Investigators determined that the victim, a private security officer, was responding to a reported shoplifting when he confronted the suspect, identified as 54-year-old Jermaine Finney of Felton.

According to police, Finney refused to comply with the officer’s commands and became involved in a physical altercation. During the struggle, the victim sustained injuries to his upper body. Finney then broke free, entered the victim’s 2015 Jeep Wrangler with Delaware registration PC537097, and fled the scene.

Police said Finney has been positively identified, and warrants have been issued for his arrest. As of Friday evening, neither Finney nor the stolen vehicle had been located.
