NEW YORK, N.Y. – A young woman was groped Tuesday evening in front of a Washington Heights apartment building before the suspect fled into the night.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. outside 638 West 158th Street, where a 24-year-old woman was approached by an unidentified individual.
Authorities said the suspect grabbed the victim’s buttocks before running away on foot toward an unknown direction.
The victim was not injured during the encounter, according to police.
Suspect fled before police arrived
Officers canvassed the area but did not locate the individual described in the report. The suspect’s description has not yet been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Detectives are classifying the incident as a forcible touching and are reviewing nearby surveillance footage for potential leads. Anyone with information is urged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers tip line.
