SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, N.Y. — A reputed gang member has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for fatally shooting an 18-year-old in a fast food restaurant parking lot last fall, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced Thursday.
Rayvon Phillip, 19, of Springfield Gardens, pleaded guilty on July 14 to first-degree manslaughter for the September 27, 2024, shooting that killed Akim Cisse. Phillip, known as “Ray-G” and linked to the BG4 gang, fired multiple shots into a gray Nissan Altima outside a McDonald’s on South Conduit Avenue, striking Cisse in the back of the head.
Cisse, a recent high school graduate who had just celebrated his 18th birthday, was one of four occupants in the vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital but died after losing brain function.
“This defendant indiscriminately fired into a car filled with people, killing Akim Cisse who had just celebrated his 18th birthday,” said District Attorney Katz.
Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holder sentenced Phillip to 21 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.
