Elmont Powerball ticket hits for $1 million second-prize win
Elmont, NY – A Powerball player in Elmont matched five numbers in the December 17 drawing, landing a second-tier prize of $1,000,000, according to the New York Lottery.
The winning ticket was purchased at GNP PRIYAL CORP, located at 201 Hempstead Turnpike. The ticket matched all five white balls but not the red Powerball, qualifying for the second-tier prize.
Drawings take place three times weekly — Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. — and offer players a chance to win millions in prizes. Players select five numbers from 1 to 69, and one red Powerball from 1 to 26.
The Elmont winner was one of three Powerball players in New York to secure a $1 million prize in the December 17 draw.
The New York Lottery contributed $3.6 billion in the last fiscal year to support education across the state.
