Repeat shoplifter hit with new charges while already behind bars in Stafford
STAFFORD, VA – A Stafford man already in jail on a separate theft case is now facing additional shoplifting charges after investigators tied him to multiple retail thefts at a local grocery store.
Deputies responded to Publix at 1630 Publix Way after the business reported two past shoplifting incidents. Investigators determined the suspect concealed merchandise and left the store without paying on two separate occasions earlier in the week.
The suspect was identified as John Townsell IV, 30, of Stafford, who was already known to law enforcement after being arrested for an unrelated larceny earlier the same day. Deputies obtained two additional shoplifting warrants, which were served while Townsell was being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Townsell remains incarcerated on a continuation of no bond.
