Teen suspects arrested after rifle used in shocking DC carjacking spree
WASHINGTON, DC — Two suspects, including a teenager, have been arrested in connection to a series of armed carjackings in Northeast Washington that involved a rifle and left one victim shot.
The incidents occurred on March 4 and March 6 in the unit block of Webster Street Northeast, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
In the first case, suspects approached a victim around 12:33 p.m., where one displayed a rifle and demanded property. During the encounter, the weapon was also pointed at a second victim nearby. The suspects then stole the victim’s vehicle and fled.
Two days later, a second armed carjacking unfolded at the same location. Police said the suspects approached a victim inside a building and demanded property. When the victim attempted to call 911, one of the suspects displayed a rifle and shot the victim before fleeing in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim was transported to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The stolen vehicle was later recovered.
On March 26, police arrested 18-year-old Daquan Simpson of Northeast DC and a 15-year-old male from Southeast DC. Both were charged with two counts of armed carjacking and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
