Third teen arrested in DC shooting that left 15 year old wounded
WASHINGTON, DC — A third suspect has been arrested in connection to a daytime shooting that left a 15-year-old injured in Northeast Washington, police said.
The shooting happened February 6 around 4:12 p.m. in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue Northeast.
Officers found a 15-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was conscious and breathing when first responders arrived and was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Two suspects, ages 16 and 17, were initially stopped near the scene by U.S. Capitol Police and later arrested. Both were charged with assault with a dangerous weapon involving a gun.
Investigators also recovered a firearm near the location with the assistance of a K9 officer.
On March 25, a third suspect, a 14-year-old boy from Southeast DC, was taken into custody under a court order and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
