Scooter rider identified in deadly Elizabeth crash

ELIZABETH, N.J. — The Elizabeth Police Department has identified the man killed early Monday while riding a gas-powered scooter in Elizabeth.

The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with police. As of Wednesday, no summonses have been issued, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police reported Jose German-Munoz, 34, of Elizabeth, was struck by a northbound pickup truck at 3:12 a.m. while crossing Spring Street (Routes 1 & 9) at Fairmount Avenue, according to officials.
