Miami Gardens, FL – A man has been charged with second-degree murder following the shooting death of Yasmany Rodriguez Fernandez. Sylvester Grice-Jordan, 32, is accused of fatally shooting Fernandez after a dispute over a dog.
Police responded to the 3300 block of NW 177th Terrace shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday. Officers found Grice-Jordan holding a rifle; he complied with orders to drop the weapon.
Fernandez was discovered dead on the porch with multiple gunshot wounds. Inside the home were the victim’s wife, stepdaughter, and an eight-month-old baby.
Fernandez’s stepdaughter stated she had been in a relationship with Grice-Jordan, and the couple had lived at the residence since April. Following issues with the suspect, Fernandez’s wife asked him to leave on December 15.
Grice-Jordan was asked to retrieve his dog after it soiled the residence. He came back to the home, causing an argument with Fernandez.
As the two men verbally confronted each other, both had previously been armed but did not hold the weapons. Grice-Jordan moved outside, followed by the victim, where another argument ensued.

Following the countdown, Grice-Jordan allegedly fired several more shots at the victim. He was taken into custody and remains at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.

Miami, FL A man has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly pushing a woman off a train platform, resulting in her death.
Jorge Gomez, 45, was taken into custody at Miami-Dade County jail on Thursday. The incident reportedly occurred at the Dadeland North Metrorail Station on November 14 around 12:30 p.m.
The victim, 32-year-old Kanisa Love, was backing away from Gomez when he approached her and unprovoked, shoved her to the ground. Prosecutors stated that his actions caused her to fall from the elevated platform, leading to fatal injuries.
During his court appearance on Friday, the judge commented on the severity of the incident, noting that Gomez pushed a woman standing on a Metrorail platform. Video evidence confirmed the platform’s significant height above ground.
Although the incident occurred shortly after noon, emergency services did not arrive at the scene until the following morning. Medical examiners later determined that Love died from blunt force trauma to her head.
Gomez has an extensive arrest record dating back to 2014. He has been ordered to remain in custody without bond.

Adam Crespo, 49, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his girlfriend, Silvia Galva, 32. A jury found Crespo guilty of second-degree murder in August, six years after Galva’s death on July 12, 2019.
Crespo claimed that Galva “must have grabbed onto the spear” during a fight when police arrived at their home to find her fatally impaled. The prosecution presented evidence suggesting that the spear wound could only have been inflicted with intent to kill.
During the trial, Crespo’s defense argued that the incident was accidental, citing a lack of physical evidence of malice. They contended that Crespo had turned his back during the altercation and heard a snap before discovering Galva injured.
Judge Andrew Siegel delivered the sentence on Friday, stating that he found no evidence of remorse from Crespo. The courtroom was told that medical examiners testified that the injury indicated a homicide rather than an accident.
Prosecutor Jaclyn Broudy emphasized Crespo’s ill will towards Galva, arguing that he acted out of anger. Additionally, both sides engaged expert witnesses and demonstrations during the trial to reconstruct the events surrounding Galva’s death.
Crespo, upon receiving his sentence, expressed regret for his actions but did not react visibly during the proceedings. He stated, “I still love her and I regret my actions that night.”

Florida woman charged for after her baby boy injested fatal amounts of meth, cocaine
Miami, FL
A woman has been charged in the death of her 9-month-old son after he ingested lethal amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine. Natalia Munoz-Paulino, 26, faces second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges.
The boy was pronounced dead on July 2. A probable cause arrest affidavit details that police responded to a local hospital, where the child was reported deceased.
Upon visiting Munoz-Paulino’s apartment, police discovered a disheveled environment, littered with clothing, trash, and old food. Officers intervened to prevent the boy’s older sibling from consuming baby oil from a bottle.
Munoz-Paulino stated she fell asleep while holding her son and woke to find him unresponsive. However, she provided varying accounts to investigators, claiming the boy had fallen, drowned, or choked.
The suspect mentioned her son had a history of placing foreign objects in his mouth. An autopsy revealed eggshells and feathers present in his stomach alongside the drugs discovered in his system.
The cause of death was determined to be a homicide stemming from child neglect, attributed to the presence of narcotics. Munoz-Paulino admitted to using drugs over the weekend preceding her son’s death.
She remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with no bond and has pleaded not guilty. The boy’s father, residing out of state, reported previous observations of drug use at the apartment.

Dayton, OH A 24-year-old man faces significant prison time after entering a guilty plea for his involvement in the fatal shooting of a woman earlier this week. Noah Corbitt pleaded guilty to murder, four counts of felonious assault with a deadly weapon, and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, according to court records.
The incident occurred during a confrontation over a botched firearm sale on September 21. Corbitt, angry after losing $200 in the deal, shot at a vehicle driven by Jermea Lyle while she had her 4-year-old daughter in the back seat.
As the victim drove on Interstate 75, she was struck by a bullet that entered her left back and exited her chest. Lyle was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to Miami Valley Hospital, leaving her daughter without a mother.
Corbitt reportedly pursued Lyle’s vehicle after an encounter with another man involved in the earlier dispute. Although the two men had worked together at an Amazon facility, their relationship soured over the failed gun transaction.
Investigators later discovered a 9 mm bullet that had passed through Lyle’s body and remained lodged in the driver’s seat. A search of Corbitt’s home yielded a firearm that ballistics experts confirmed was the weapon used in the shooting.
During questioning, Corbitt claimed he fired a warning shot from his car window, insisting that the gun had jammed after the first round. In exchange for his guilty plea, several charges were dismissed, leading to a recommended sentence of 50 years to life.
Corbitt is scheduled to be sentenced on November 14.
Tragic boating accident leaves young girl with severe injuries at summer camp
Tragic boating accident leaves young girl with severe injuries
Miami, FL
An 11-year-old girl attending a Florida summer camp suffered severe injuries after a counselor allegedly ran over her with a boat propeller. Catherine Viteri was swimming at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club when the incident occurred.
Catherine’s family has filed a lawsuit against the counselor, Myles Carter Holt, and the sailing club seeking $10 million in damages.
According to the complaint, Holt, 21, was operating a 2008 Ribcraft motorboat on July 10 when he lost track of the number of campers in the water and collided with Viteri.
Her attorney Justin Shapiro described the injuries as “permanently mutilated,” claiming Holt’s actions resulted in Catherine’s leg being lacerated to the bone.
Catherine was participating in a swimming activity when Holt reportedly began ferrying a group of children toward her location. The complaint alleges that Holt’s lack of attentiveness resulted in him being unaware of the campers around him.
Shapiro stated that Holt operated the vessel directly into the area where the children were swimming, leading to the accident. The description of the injuries indicated that all muscles and nerves were severed in her leg.
In addition to Holt, two other counselors, Aden Weinberg and Sara Ortiz Vey, are also named in the lawsuit for failing to supervise the children properly.
Coconut Grove Sailing Club has not responded to recent requests for comment. Shapiro emphasized that counselors are expected to ensure the safety of campers.
He stated that the risk of danger should not come from the counselors supposed to protect the campers.
Catherine’s injuries are expected to have long-lasting impacts on her functionality for years to come.
